Meta cut 8,000 jobs in one layoff, per TechCrunch's running list of major tech layoffs in 2026, where the company cited artificial intelligence as a reason for the reduction. The company then eliminated another 8,000 positions in a second layoff, according to The Times of India.
The two cuts bring the total number of Meta employees affected to 16,000 across both reductions.
